Storyboarding
“As a freelance videographer drawing up a storyboard is a vital part of the video production” Josh from FVL.
Drawing up a great storyboard is a best tool any videographer could ask for. A storyboard not only helps you see the story in front of you but it helps you as a videographer translate the idea from your brain to a reality. As a professional videographer i really feel having a storyboard is a vital tool for keeping the client happy. The client is able to see the video as you see it and your vision is there and it is crystal clear. Who likes un-expected surprises in this videographer world?
Another point to consider is having a storyboard on the shooting day is an essential tool to ensure that nothing is missed.
Over the years i have learnt not to let my quality of drawing hold me back but to instead embrase the basic drawings and move forward with it with confidence. A few simple lines can do so much including translate a language barier and help form the idea beyond belief.
I want to run you threw an example of a videographer storyboard we did for BBC Proms. You can see the video in this link and how the below storyboard match up.
